Henry Sorenson VIEW PROFILE

Henry “Hank” Sorenson, 58, of Minot and formerly of Williston, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Trinity Hospital in Minot on Thursday evening, May 9, 2013, after a three-year battle with cancer.

His funeral service were celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, May 14, at Faith United Methodist Church in Williston.

Henry Sorenson was born March 21, 1955, in Williston to Harold and Betty Lou (Dixon) Sorenson. Henry was raised and educated in Williston.

He attended NDSU and Moorhead State University, where he earned various degrees.

Henry was once married to Donna, and together they had three girls, Sarah, Hilary and Emily. From the marriage, he also gained two step-kids, Jeremy and Amber, whom he adored. Henry married Jan on June 17, 2003, in Minot. He was blessed with three stepchildren, William, Matthew and Hannah.

Henry’s employment included various jobs with oil companies. He was also employed by Walmart as a department manager. For 17 years, he worked at Menards where he was a department manager of floor and wall coverings. During his time at Menards, he met lots of friends and you could always find him with a smile on his face and happy to help.

Henry enjoyed watching and playing sports, outdoor activities, especially fishing. His biggest passions of all were his relationship with God, being active at his church, playing in the worship band and his family and friends.

He enjoyed being with his family, taking drives with his wife and sight-seeing. He loved going to Oak Park with his grandbabies, Baleigh and Mya. 

Some other things he enjoyed were going to Planet Pizza and bowling with his family, especially his step-daughter, Hannah, and his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Jan, of Minot; daughters, Sarah (Phillip) Martinson of Benedict, Hilary (Josh) Sorenson of Minot and Emily (Ryan) Sorenson of Minot; grandchildren, Baleigh and Mya; stepsons, William and Matthew Primrose of Bellingham, Wash.; step-daughter, Hanna Eckert of Minot; half sister, Barb (William) Korfman of Kansas; sisters-in-law, Diane Togstad of Devils Lake and Eileen Hoerauf of Spokane, Wash.; and his cousin, Bob (Pat) Helle of Vancouver, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ruben and Mildred Togstad.
