Doug was born September 4, 1954 to Perry and Josephine Hastings  In 1972 he left school to join the US Marines where he served as a computer programmer.  He was honorably discharged in 1976 and married Juanita Mangis the same year.  They had two children.

After his stint in the Marines, Doug was a computer programmer for 1st National Bank in Kansas City, Puget Sound Energy in Seattle, and later DHL.

Doug was easy going and a loving father.  He enjoyed the outdoors; camping and fishing with his sons, his brothers, and their families.  His brother Derwin's lake home at Blacktail Dam was a favorite place to spend time.  He was an avid card player.

Doug passed away on February 17, 2012 at his home in Williston.
